hi hi hi. last weekend i had a pretty remarkable weekend.
here’s a rundown:
went to a show friday night at the Williamsburg Hall of Music in Brooklyn (how could you go wrong), with some friends. some really fun friends to say the least.
took that picture from sydney because LOOK, are they not just the funnest looking people?
we saw Ryan Hemsworth and Wet.

Saturday we went to Chinatown.
it was the Chinese new year! SO FUN. a few words to describe chinatown on saturday:
chinatown for ya folks. ^^ (picture from syd)
we stopped at Joe’s Shanghai, which is a pretty famous restaurant in Chinatown.
i would highly recommend it when you’re in Chinatown. although you will have to wait to get in, it’s well worth it – trust me. the soup dumplings will be worth your wait, they may even change your life. the food there is crazy good, i’m telling you. check out the menu here: Joe’s Shanghai
note: if you don’t know how to use chopsticks, you may be slightly embarrassed and have to observe the people sitting with you (you’re put at a table with other people), like me. my dumpling kept falling out of my chopstick, and when i finally thought i had the hang of it – like, it was right in front of my mouth, there it went, fell out of my chopstick and onto my plate over and over and over again. (could imagine if it was a first date? ) as i tried to nonchalantly pick it up and try again, i knew exactly what the two ladies at our table were saying (speaking Chinese) “this girl” but have no fear, you’ll make it through – i did.
before i forget i want to show this to you guys:
‘ i laugh when my nanny tells me stories”
michael came home with that a few days ago and i about melted. i know, it’s not that big of a deal but to me it’s a huge deal. i was on such a high for… the week. i still am. i forget sometimes how much of an impact i have on tyler, robert and michael. i get caught up in day to day things and routine that i don’t take the time to realize it. you know when you’re boss promotes you, or you get a bonus at work or have a really really good day – this would be the equivalent. seeing that picture made my day and made me so happy. i am blown away every single day at how much my boys are growing and learning. did i tell you guys that michael is now reading. YEAH HE’S READING!!!!! I can’t even believe it. i am so so proud of him and still am trying to wrap my head around the whole idea. so then me, the big thinker got to thinking how much i’ve grown since moving here. sometimes i read back on old blog posts and feel embarrassed or can’t believe i made that big of a deal out of things – but, i have to remind myself it’s part of this life. we are all growing, learning, each and every day.
it’s pretty remarkable how much we grow in such a short period of time.
i have a tendency to make a big deal out of accomplishments because i am an enthusiast.especially with Tyler, Robert and Michael. they have accomplished so much whether it be with band concerts, homework, school, sports, boy scouts, reading, language lessons, etc. anyways, michael is getting pretty fed up with it – every time he finishes reading a page, or comes across a hard word and sounds it out i go WILD. I call Robert and Tyler into the room to witness, send a text to Mark or Tracey, high five Micahel, scream, or whatever and he says
“Miss Lauren, stop – i just know how to do it now.”
🙂 🙂 🙂
went to a complete dive bar called Rosemary’s Greenpoint Tavern. they serve your beer in a large styrofoam cup, there are paper hearts hanging from the ceiling, christmas lights hanging, and every type of person there. can you get more lauren? i loved it. look!
i was able to spend a lot of time with my friend Jaime too. she just moved out east from Wisconsin and is doing the same thing I am, (sort of), it’s been so inspiring seeing her transition and all she’s overcome, on Sunday, we had the most memorable day. i’m talking, one of the most humbling, inspiring, wonderful, memorable day’s of my entire life. I can’t wait to share it with you all.
